Raising Funds
Everyone knows that raising money for your expedition is time consuming and sometimes seems really hard, especially when you’ve got exams on and so much planned out of school hours. There are lots of ways of achieving your target and a structured method to going about it all is important. It’s all too easy to expect your parents to pay for this, and in fact we discourage parents from forking out!
Raising your own funds is a really valuable part of the whole development process - you won’t believe how much it will teach you and what a feeling of achievement it will give you to go on your expedition and know that you really deserve to be there having raised the funds yourself. It’s great for team-building, great for your confidence levels and we have seen even the most financially deprived students raise every penny themselves.
When your team is formed Wilderness Expertise runs a Raising Funds Seminar which helps you set out your plans and gives you masses of ideas and support to help you on your way.
Above all this should be fun! Most team members raise up to 70% of their expedition funds themselves through some very ingenious methods.
