Mega-Adventures: 10-16 days
These adventures all focus on UK walking routes of great renown e.g. The Coast to Coast Walk, The West Highland Way, Offa’s Dyke and Hadrian’s Wall among others (14 different routes in fact!). Included are several unique trails such as the Arran Coastal Way which allows students the chance to walk around the entire coastline of the Isle of Arran in Scotland, and there are even a couple of walk/kayak options.
Voluntary work of 3-5 days is part of the wider itinerary and is predominantly conservation based e.g. beach cleans, habitat maintenance, restoration etc. One opportunity even involves a community outreach programme at the Eden Project!
These Adventures are designed to be physically demanding, but the level of challenge does vary. On some routes teams will need to carry their own kit and food for many days of trekking; on others there are a greater number of indoor accommodation options available (including catered food) and on others there are options of ‘bag carrier’ services. Variety being the spice of life and all.
Wherever possible, all Mega-Adventures have been designed to allow a team to get to and from the location on public transport and to not require private transport during the itinerary, students will need to menu plan and self-cater and work effectively as a team. We want this to be student led as much as possible and our amazing Leaders will help facilitate this.
